The camera is an extension of my own eye and mind. As an artist, I use the mechanism of the camera to document light, pattern and motion, of which translate into a story, be it of a person's life or of my personal experience. Ultimately I am a visual storyteller, I use my passion for the visual arts and combine it with my journalistic drive and technical knowledge to create emotive still and motion imagery for the viewer to create a personal relationship with the story being told within the confines of the frame.

The past twenty years I have been fortunate to be part of so many peoples lives. Be it on the war torn streets of Sarajevo, Bosnia- Herzegovina in the late 90's photographing the beautiful citizens with smiles brighter than any horrific bomb during the war or on the screaming hot asphalt in Albuquerque, New Mexico following the homeless community as I studied color film at the University of New Mexico. All of this brought me back to Western Pennsylvania where I currently chase news for the local small town newspaper, and run Nestor Photography shooting stills and video. - James J. Nestor
